I Am Light, Sharp and Luminous is a photographic series made in response to loss. As grief altered my sense of time and perception, I was drawn to water, weather, and the night sky as shifting, luminous, and indifferent forces—constantly there, but never the same. Informed by the pull of the moon, I made images at the edge of the sea, often during stormy weather and high tide. I montaged these with images of the night sky. This work began after being diagnosed with a sight-threatening eye condition that altered how I perceived the world. Blur, disorientation, and double exposure became part of my visual language. Here, the photograph becomes a document of uncertainty, in which perception, memory, and the elemental world converge in strange and unpredictable ways.
